| Comment | Very dynamic sound for a 2011 with very high peaks in some tracks. The sound isn't completely flawless. For example, in track 4 ("Deeper Understanding") the very high peaks of the drum sounds are hard limited and therefore show clipping wich make them sound a little hard/stale. In track 1 the vocals are a little too loud in the mix and are floating loosely over the instrumentation instead being integrated in it. Apart from these little problems, the sound is considerably broad, lively and a pleasure to listen to. The emotional power of the performance is very much intact. Major annoyances like extreme equalizer use (amplification of high frequencies to produce an unnatural brightness) are not present here. Especially the more upbeat tracks like Track 3 ("Lily") show an incredible sonic power that is often missing in modern pop tracks. Overall: This album is a revelation in times of hypercompression! Hopefully this release will be inspiration for other artists to release dynamic music again. |
