| Comment | The vinyl of this album sounds considerably more dynamic than the CD (I have both releases): It actually gets louder when drums and guitars come in and that gives it much more punch compared to the CD and gives back the logic of development in the music. Besides from the dynamics, the sound should be the same as on the CD (=> no special EQ), I suppose - and thats fine. Also the dynamics concerning the whole album are much more convenient: The acoustic parts really feel quite relaxed and give the necessary recreation passages before the metal explodes again (easily +9dB - same part on the CD has about +3dB!) and you really WANT to headbang. That's how metal music should work. :-) One small minus, especially because this a concept album: The songs are crossfaded with atmosphere on the CD and that way connected, but on the LP there are often breaks of about 2 seconds and not all of them make sense (only between Prologue and Helvetios is no break). At least on my side D, the tracks Epilogue and Uxellodunon are exchanged, which does not make much sense, too. Vinyl rip done using the following equipment: Dual CS 616 Q, Art DJ Pre II, Focusrite Saffire pro line in. Discogs release page: http://www.discogs.com/Eluveitie-Helvetios/release/3415925 |
