Comment | Notes: I only ripped tracks present on the original album to my computer. No bonus tracks (including the short "I Just Want You to Know" that was inserted in the middle of the album) were analyzed. Some audiophiles can't stand this remaster because it has been no-noised. The 2001 US remaster is generally preferred by these people. I personally prefer this 1999 version even if it is no-noised because it still sounds more "open." The drums in particular pop out more; especially on Glad. I would actually argue the 1999 version sounds closer to the Steve Winwood supervised 2011 Deluxe Edition but this version has better dynamics. foobar2000 1.2.2 / Dynamic Range Meter 1.1.1 log date: 2013-07-07 18:32:18 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Analyzed: Traffic / John Barleycorn Must Die -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR Peak RMS Duration Track -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR11 -1.15 dB -15.00 dB 7:00 01-Glad DR9 -0.62 dB -13.16 dB 5:30 02-Freedom Rider DR10 -0.71 dB -13.20 dB 4:35 03-Empty Pages DR10 -1.21 dB -13.60 dB 3:57 05-Stranger To Himself DR11 -1.64 dB -17.11 dB 6:27 06-John Barleycorn (Must Die) DR10 -0.97 dB -12.96 dB 7:08 07-Every Mothers Son -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of tracks: 6 Official DR value: DR10 Samplerate: 44100 Hz Channels: 2 Bits per sample: 16 Bitrate: 901 kbps Codec: ALAC ================================================================================ |
