Comment | Audio Fidelity releases have recently seen more and more compression. DR10 vs DR12 for the 1990 Columbia. The same went for The Last In Line: DR10 vs DR13. And the same went for Bob Dylan's greatest hits, with the song "Like A Rolling Stone" being less dynamic than on the former DCC release (though most DCC were quite compressed). And all this is definitely not due to EQ changes, meters show higher local RMS value indicating slight compression. Not saying it sounds bad though, just a decent amount and well-applied. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Analyzed: Big Brother & The Holding Company / Cheap Thrills [2012 Audio Fidelity AFZ 150] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR Peak RMS Duration Track -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR11 -1.03 dB -13.88 dB 5:48 01-Combination Of The Two DR11 -0.31 dB -13.90 dB 4:55 02-I Need A Man To Love DR10 -2.91 dB -16.81 dB 4:02 03-Summertime DR11 -0.69 dB -13.97 dB 4:21 04-Piece Of My Heart DR11 -2.85 dB -17.48 dB 4:23 05-Turtle Blues DR9 -2.70 dB -13.83 dB 4:18 06-Oh Sweet Mary DR11 -0.61 dB -15.48 dB 9:32 07-Ball And Chain -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of tracks: 7 Official DR value: DR10 |
