Comment | This is a reissue of 10 of his early Nashville recordings and including the very first version of "That'll Be The Day" he recorded, and not the hit version from 1957 with the Crickets. The original 1958 LP was titled "That'll Be The Day" and included "Ting-a-Ling" that is not on this reissue of it, but there are UK issued CDs that use the "That'll Be The Day" album title and include "Ting-a-Ling" including a BGO twofer CD also featuring the "Remember" compilation that was issued in the UK. "Ting-a-Ling" is also included on the Buddy Holly Collection and Buddy Holly Gold 2 CD sets, plus "The Great Buddy Holly" was the title used on 1967 Vocalion LP reissues omitting "Ting-a-Ling" for the bargain bins. The original LP that features the hit version of "That'll Be The Day" is "The Chirping Crickets" which has been issued on CD by MCA in 1987, and again in 2004, plus a BGO twofer of the album also featuring his self-titled album which makes sense because these are the only 2 studio albums of prime material released in his lifetime. All of his studio recordings will be issued on CD again, this time as part of the Hip-O Select "Not Fade Away: The Complete Studio Recordings Plus More" boxed set. |
