| Comment | Modern death metal records, especially of the heavier variety like Miseration, often get slammed into the ceiling, and this one occupies an ignominious slot close to rounding to DR5. It's still not as bad as the next two albums, but the bass gets buried by loudness quickly, the drums sound much more triggered when compressed this much, and the rhythm guitar is riddled with fuzzy distortion. There exists a wrong kind of brutal in brutal/semi-brutal death metal, and this rests in that environ. |
