Comment | Rediscovered in 2005 in a dusty corner of the Library of Congress, this excellent live recording features the collaboration of two of jazz music's finest. Arguably one of the greatest 'lost' recordings ever. Ironically, the dynamic range is a bit 'meh' for a jazz album: each track get progressively louder until we reach an unsettling -11.87 dB RMS for the final track. Unsurprisingly, later tracks are subject to some peak limiting. foobar2000 1.1.10 / Dynamic Range Meter 1.1.1 log date: 2012-07-30 03:53:25 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Analyzed: Thelonious Monk & John Coltrane / At Carnegie Hall -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR Peak RMS Duration Track -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR14 -3.06 dB -19.70 dB 7:52 01-Monk's Mood DR13 -0.04 dB -15.07 dB 4:42 02-Evidence DR13 -2.25 dB -18.16 dB 4:27 03-Crepuscule with Nellie DR13 -0.02 dB -14.55 dB 5:04 04-Nutty DR12 0.00 dB -14.44 dB 4:29 05-Epistrophy DR12 -0.08 dB -14.39 dB 6:31 06-Bye-ya DR11 -0.10 dB -14.20 dB 9:35 07-Sweet and Lovely DR11 -0.11 dB -13.45 dB 6:31 08-Blue Monk DR10 -0.09 dB -11.87 dB 2:24 09-Epistrophy (Incomplete) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of tracks: 9 Official DR value: DR12 Samplerate: 44100 Hz Channels: 2 Bits per sample: 16 Bitrate: 864 kbps Codec: FLAC ================================================================================ |
