Comment | Uploading this as the other entry here is missing the track times. This is the first-ever CD release of this classic, and given when it was released, the sound is pure and unmolested by the noise reduction that plagued the 'Columbia Jazz Masterpieces' CDs and their Japanese counterparts 32DP 730/SRCS 5712. The one problem with it is, like all early CD editions the polarity is the wrong way round, resulting in a slightly dull sound (and given all early CDs are like this, perhaps the LPs are also...?). It's somewhat expensive/rare, so the closest affordable/easy-to-find CD to this is the 1996 Japanese SRCS 9117. This 1996 CD was also the first to have the polarity corrected, and the waveforms are near-identical to those on this 1983 first-press. |
