| Comment | No loudness war going on here, as confirmed by mastering engineer "Chab" in a french interview "We never tried to make it loud". He also stated that the only difference between the digital and the vinyl master is EQ. The dynamic range is the same! But strangely for a MFiT, it seem to "clip" here. Is it du to the conversion in WAV so DROffline can analyse it? I doubt it. EDIT: Different user here to answer your question on why it's clipping. The decoding/encoding process that turns the master files that were given to Apple into the 256kbps AAC lossy files that are sold on iTunes causes the peak level to increase. This is completely normal. The reason why the process is causing the clipping is because, after looking at entries involving the lossless download versions of the album, it seams like the masters had a maximum true peak level of -0.1 db, when in reality you should really have a maximum true peak level of -1 db (and no higher) in order to leave headroom for transcoding the master files into lossy files (Apple recommends this in their white paper detailing the Mastered for iTunes label).
