Comment | I am posting the old foobar_DR measurements below as evidence that, for about a dozen CDs I have run through both the new MAAT(above) and the old foobar, I have gotten the SAME EXACT DR measurements(peak, RMS, DR Value) in both tools! foobar2000 1.2.9 / Dynamic Range Meter 1.1.1 log date: 2018-10-27 09:21:22 ---------------------------------------------------------- Analyzed: ? / ? In my particular car, I have a numeric volume level that I am able to listen to most of my pre-1990 CDs at, and this CD is not one of them. I don't know if it's the EQ, or the mixing, or the instrumental arrangement itself, but it is quite difficult to hold conversation in the car with this CD playing, unless I lower its volume to almost a whisper. I suspect that some dynamic range compression was used during the transfer from the original 1960s-'70s master tapes to digital, because something just sounds *off* about most of the tracks on the album. If it were available on vinyl I would love to hear that for myself to verify if there is a difference between the vinyl and as reissued on this CD, and do needle drops into wave format and post results from that for comparison. Be forewarned! |
