| Comment | Pretty surprised by the DR score DROffline gave me, cause there isn't really clipping going on (usual for something labeled "Mastered for iTunes") and looking at the waveforms from the files in Audacity, the album isn't really being bricked walled (in fact, to my ears from just listening to the album, the dynamic range sounds like it's pretty good). My guess is that the EQ they used made DROffline think that some sounds seem like they were louder than, but who knows? I would like to say congratulations to Sam Smith and Bob Ludwig for at least trying to keep the album pretty dynamic on the digital versions (even if DROffline doesn't think so). I wouldn't be shocked if The Thrill Of It All ends up winning the Grammy for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical in 2019. |
